We are seeking a full time Physician’s Assistant (PA) with spine experience.

Job Summary:Orthopaedic Physician Assistants are responsible for various functions including first assisting in the operating room, inpatient care, outpatient clinic care, and consults.

The PA will provide direct patient care to patients under the direction of their supervising physician and be responsible for the duties listed below:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Take a patient history, perform a physical examination and make an assessment and diagnosis based on this information, and initiate, review and revise treatment and therapy plans
  • Evaluate and treat patients in accordance with POA’s standard of care
  • Record all relevant patient data into EMR system
  • Follow patient progress and make changes in treatment as necessary
  • Administer or order diagnostic tests including but not limited to x-rays, MRI, CT, blood work, etc. and interpret test results
  • Perform approved diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for patients
  • Provide patient care services at any of the required practice locations and assisting in the OR if and when needed
  • Attend continuing education courses to maintain CME
  • Prescribe medications to the extent allowable by state guidelines and clinic regulations
  • Ensure compliance with licensing, certification and accrediting boards
  • Provide general health education to promote overall health and spine health as required
  • Perform other tasks and duties reasonably requested by your supervising physician and POA’s administration as required

REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

·Graduation from an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant Program

License and Certification:

·Licensure (or eligibility) for Physician Assistant in the State of New JerseyBLS and ACLS required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

·Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information. Basic computer skills (including opening/reading email, basic internet use). Considerable knowledge of anatomy and physiology; knowledge of the surgical procedures performed and the supplies and equipment used in orthopaedics. Knowledgeable in practices involved in patient care as it relates to different disciplines and disease states.

·Knowledge of medications and their reactions and interactions; counseling skills; considerable interpersonal skills; ability to work independently; ability to work under pressure.

PROBLEM SOLVING AND DECISION MAKING

·Good problem solving and/or decision-making skills. Ability to make independent decisions. Ability to react and perform under strict timelines and/or emergency situations. Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
